Description
(verse)
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."
But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"
(chorus)
In the holy city, high on the temple's peak,
The tempter's voice so sly, His words they sneak.
"Throw Yourself down; the angels will appear!"
But Jesus stood firm, His purpose clear.
(pre-chorus)
Again, the devil took Him up on a mountain grand,
Showed all the kingdoms and their glory so planned.
"Worship me now, all this can be yours," he said,
But Jesus rebuked him; it was truth He fed.
(chorus)
Away with you, Satan! The Word is my sword,
You shall serve the Lord, our one true accord.
The devil then fled, his schemes they did fail,
Angels appeared to minister; Love will prevail.
