Lyrics
Description
(verse)
It is a temptation in the midst of long affliction,
To think that God has turned His face from us,
Or that He has refused our prayers, oh no,
But the soul taught by grace knows better, trust.
(chorus)
Oh, the Lord, who is all-wise,
Sometimes defers His comforts, it's no surprise,
Not to deny us, but to enlarge our faith,
To receive a greater mercy, that's His grace.
(verse)
Delay is His refining furnace, burning bright,
Preparing us to prize the blessings in sight,
When it comes, we'll be fit to use it right,
God waits not to harm but to help us fight.
(chorus)
Oh, the Lord, who is all-wise,
Sometimes defers His comforts, it's no surprise,
Not to deny us, but to enlarge our faith,
To receive a greater mercy, that's His grace.
(pre-chorus)
Let us not murmur in the waiting time,
Believe that God tarries with purpose divine,
The mercy He brings after is so sweet,
More than if it had come at first, complete.
(chorus)
Oh, the Lord, who is all-wise,
Sometimes defers His comforts, it's no surprise,
Not to deny us, but to enlarge our faith,
To receive a greater mercy, that's His grace.
