Description
[Intro – slow, echoed:]
I thought I knew pain, but I hadn’t even started…
This ain’t about what broke me—
It’s what didn’t.
[Verse 1 – slow burn, poetic flow:]
Three brain bleeds, alone on a hardwood floor,
Naked, starvin’, couldn’t crawl to the door.
Chokin’ on pee that I couldn’t hold in,
Laid there three days—death creeping under my skin.
But I didn’t die. I made myself swallow shame,
Ate my waste just to keep breath in my name.
No doctor, no rescue, just silence and fear,
The clock stopped ticking, but I stayed here.
[Verse 2 – steady rhythm, rising strength:]
Said I'd never speak again—just a word or two,
But look at me now, cuttin' straight through you.
Foot was dead, no muscle, just weight,
Watched it fall every step, retrained my gait.
One millimeter takes all of my fight,
But I walk, I climb, I rise each night.
They said “She’s done,” face cold and sure—
But I do stairs now, just to settle the score.
[Bridge – emotional, building power:]
It felt like life all over again—
First a baby, helpless in pain.
Then a child learning how to breathe,
Then a teen with trauma buried deep beneath.
Now I’m grown with a voice on fire—
Not dragged through the mud, but risen higher.
[Chorus – strong, echoing beat:]
You thought I'd fold,
You thought I’d drown,
But look at me now,
I’m still around.
You tried to end me,
Thought you had the power—
But I lived through hell
And I rose higher.
[Outro – quiet, deliberate:]
It wasn't the stroke that broke me down—
It was what came after,
When I was already on the ground.
But still…
I stand.
