[Intro — Spoken over a driving guitar riff] Homestead, Florida… Back in the eighties… 726 Tactical Control Squadron! Prepared… To… Go! [Verse 1] Down at Homestead in the Florida sun, We were young and ready, we were getting it done. Radar screens glowing through the heat and the rain, Keeping watch on the skies again and again. Operations had the mission in sight, Ground Radio keeping communications tight, AGE kept the generators ready to roll, And Radar Maintenance kept control of the soul. [Pre-Chorus ] From the flight line to the command post, We were ready when they needed us most. Different jobs, but we all knew the code— When the call came down… [Chorus ] Seven Twenty Six — Prepared To Go! Homestead heat and that Florida glow! Radar turning, watchstanding all night, Keeping the mission running right. Seven Twenty Six — we knew the show! One squadron, one team, one road. From the eighties and beyond, We carried the load— 726 Tactical Control Squadron… PREPARED TO GO! [Verse 2] Wideband was pushing the signal through, Vehicle Maintenance kept the wheels brand new. Computer Maintenance kept the systems alive, Job Control made sure the work could survive. Quality Control checked every line, Making damn sure everything worked fine. Sat Com reached across the sky, Telephone kept the voices flying by. [Chorus ] Seven Twenty Six — Prepared To Go! [Verse 3] Secure Coms kept the secrets tight, Admin kept the paperwork right. Food Service kept the troops fed, Medical took care of the folks in our stead. Every shop had a job to do, Every shift depended on the crew. Nobody cared who got the glory— We were all part of the same story. [Breakdown — Drums drop, crowd vocals] Operations! — READY! Ground Radio! — READY! AGE! — READY! Wideband! — READY! [Verse 4 — Reunion Verse ] Now the years have rolled like a highway line, But those Homestead memories still stand the test of time. Different bases, different lives, different roads, But we still remember carrying those loads. So raise a glass to the friends we knew, To the old squadron and the jobs we used to do. The hair may be gray and the knees may complain, But say "726" and we're young again! [Final Chorus — BIG] Seven Twenty Six — Prepared To Go! Homestead heat and that Florida glow!
