[Intro]
Soft piano, hum of choir — call: "Ooh" — hands clap lightly
Leader: Ohhh — (Choir: Ohhh)
[Verse 1]
There was rain on my roof and a night without end,
I walked that long highway with questions to mend.
He found me on a midnight road, hand trembling in mine,
He whispered through headlights, said, "Child, you're gonna shine."
[Pre-Chorus]
When the world said stay down, He said, "Come on up,"
He poured out living water from an empty cup.
(Choir response:) "Come on up, come on up!" — echo on the bridge of love
[Chorus]
Rise in His Light, we are made new
(Choir: We are made new)
Rise in His Light, we are made new
(Choir: We are made new)
Shout from the valley, let heaven break through —
Rise in His Light, we are made new.
[Verse 2]
I carried my sorrow like letters unread,
Tucked underneath pillows on a prayer-worn bed.
He knelt in the doorway of my smallest fear,
He read every margin and turned my silence to cheer.
[Pre-Chorus]
There was a hospital room and a whispered name,
There was a broken promise, but He stoked the flame.
(Choir:) "Name of Jesus, fire the claim!"
[Chorus]
Rise in His Light, we are made new
(Choir: We are made new)
Rise in His Light, we are made new
(Tag: Rise, rise — we are made new)
From the ashes of doubt to a banner held high,
Rise in His Light, we are made new.
[Bridge — The Climax]
From ashes I rise — I stand redeemed, proclaimed!
The chains that I wore are broken and named.
He took my winter heart and taught it to sing,
From the valley's shadow to the throne of the King.
(Leader: I was lost — Choir: He found me!)
(Leader: I was dead — Choir: He raised me!)
Now I lift up my voice and I call out His truth:
[Bridge Tag — Call & Response]
Leader: Who makes the blind to see? (Choir: He does, He does!)
Leader: Who brings the captive free? (Choir: He does, He does!)
Leader & Choir: He is my morning, He is my proof.
[Chorus — Variation]
Rise in His Light, we are made new
(Choir harmony: we — are — made — new)
Rise in His Light, and I am renewed
(Tag altered for impact)
Let the rafters ring out, let the heavens agree:
Rise in His Light, we are made new.
[Vamp / Ad-lib — Gospel Call]
(Leader ad-libs over vamp)
"Hallelujah!" — (Choir answers) "Hallelujah!"
"I will not be shaken!" — (Choir) "We will not be shaken!"
(Call-and-response: Leader sings testimony lines — Choir lifts on every phrase)
He held my trembling hand — on that midnight road — He said, "Go on home!"
(3-part harmony on: "we are made new")
[Final Chorus — Full-Band, Full-Choir]
Rise in His Light, we are made new
(Choir: We are made new — repeat, building)
Rise in His Light, we are made new
(Tag: Rise in His Light — we are made new)
From the corner to the crossroad, from silence to song,
Rise in His Light, we are made new — we belong.
[Outro — Gentle Hold]
Leader: Rise in His Light, we are...
(Choir softens into a three-part close) "made new..."
Optional coda: soft ad-libbed "Hallelujah" repeats with a descending piano line.
