i thought the devil was attacking me…
but god gave permission.
they thought i broke when the pressure hit,
thought i’d fold when i lost my grip.
but god said "watch what he do with pain."
i gave permission… now he won’t be the same.
i ain’t see it coming, it hit too fast,
one wrong turn, now i’m locked in my past.
cold steel bed, concrete floor,
four walls whisper, locked behind that door.
everybody vanished when the night got cold,
learned who’s warm, who’s just ice and old.
hours stretch long, my mind talks loud,
prayed to god but i wore no crown.
asked "why me? what seed did i sow?"
feeling lost like a kid who won’t grow.
but deep in that shadowed cell,
felt a whisper bigger than hell.
they thought i broke when the pressure hit,
thought i’d fold when i lost my grip.
but god said "watch what he do with pain."
i gave permission… now he won’t be the same.
came home empty, pockets turned out,
no bed to jump in, no hand to shout.
sleeping under stretched-out sky,
asking god if i’d make it by.
faces passing, but none stop to see,
the cracks in my soul, the fight inside me.
i stayed grounded, feet firm in dirt,
even when life kicked me where it hurts.
hunger’s sharp edge cuts through the night,
still, my prayers made my heart fight.
nothing much but faith in my hand,
that’s the shield where i learned to stand.
you can strip me bare, i’ll still believe,
even when all that’s left’s a ragged sleeve.
devil thought he cracked my core,
but god was building more than before.
this ain’t defeat, it’s a roadmap passed,
this fire forged the last to last.
i’m not done, no retreat in sight,
god’s still sculpting me in the night.
from dirt, from rain, from storm i rise,
where you see scrapes i see mold in the skies.
this is my story, not just pain,
you see storm… i see god’s gain.
they thought i broke when the pressure hit,
thought i’d fold when i lost my grip.
but god said "watch what he do with pain."
i gave permission… now he won’t be the same.
watch me stand when the night gets colder,
words like thunder — growing bolder.
every scar, a story tattooed,
every trial, the path i renewed.
i gave permission… now he won’t be the same.
i’m still breathing under this flame.
this story’s mine… watch me reclaim.
