Spoken Word Poetry
[Intro] [Soft flute begins.] Today, green and white rises with the sun— not just as colours, but as a promise. A promise carried by generations. A promise protected by hope. A promise called— Nigeria. [Verse 1] From Kano to Lagos, from Enugu to Maiduguri, from the Niger Delta to the hills of Jos, our roads may be different, our languages may be many, but beneath one flag, we belong to one nation. [Verse 2 - Hausa] Mu haɗa kai, mu gina Najeriya. Let us unite and build Nigeria. Allah Ya albarkaci Najeriya. May God bless Nigeria. [Verse 3 - Yoruba] Àpapọ̀ ni agbára wa. Our strength is in unity. Ọlọ́run bù kún orílẹ̀-èdè wa. May God bless our nation. [Verse 4 - Igbo] Ịdị n'otu bụ ike anyị. Unity is our strength. Chineke gozie Nigeria. God bless Nigeria. [Verse 5 - Fulfulde] Ɗow e jokkondiral, en mbaawi yahrude yeeso. With unity, we can move forward. Alla yo barkin Nigeria. May God bless Nigeria. [Pause.] [Verse 6] From every mother tongue, from every culture, from every community— your voice belongs here. You belong here. We are not one because we speak the same language. We are one because we share one home. [Verse 7] When the farmer feeds the nation, when the teacher lights a mind, when the health worker saves a life, when the young person creates instead of destroys— Nigeria moves forward. Our challenges are real. But so is our courage. Our wounds are real. But so is our hope. [Verse 8] And the Nigeria we dream of will not be built by words alone. It will be built by honesty. By justice. By knowledge. By compassion. By millions of Nigerians choosing to do what is right. [Music softens.] [Bridge] To the young people of Nigeria: You are not too young to build. Your ideas matter. Your hands matter. Your voice matters. Do not surrender your future to fear or division. Start where you are. Build what you can. Help who you can. Because a better Nigeria begins with us. [Music slowly rises.] [Chorus] From North to South, East to West, from every language to one national dream— we are many voices, but one heartbeat. Nigeria— arise. Nigeria— heal. Nigeria— unite. Nigeria— build. Nigeria— shine. [Two-second pause.] [Outro] May peace live in our homes. May justice live in our institutions. May hope live in our children. May unity live in our hearts. Nigeria, this is our home. Happy Independence Day, Nigeria. [Music fades.]
