Description
[Intro]
Yeah…
Mm-mm, yeah…
(That is not my legacy)
Yuh, aye…
[Hook]
They tryna write my story like they know the ending,
But I ain't givin' 'em the pen, nah, I keep defendin',
Told 'em I ain't tryna be what they expect from me,
Say it loud, say it proud — that is not my legacy.
I been runnin’ from my past, but it keep on chasin’,
Dodgin' demons every night, yeah, I keep on pacin’,
Ice in my veins but my soul still bleeds,
If you talk about my name — better know what it means.
[Verse 1]
I ain't here to play the role that they scripted,
Took the chains off my mind, yeah, I ripped it,
They love when you fall, hate when you lift it,
I been movin' different, tunnel vision shifted.
Whole lotta weight on my back, I ain't ask for it,
I been prayin’ every night, hopin' God pour it,
Blessings on my head 'cause the pain can't stay,
I’m the author of my life, not the games they play.
[Verse 2]
I don't wanna be a headline tragedy,
With a picture on the wall as they caption me,
I just wanna see the sun when the night fade out,
Turn my pain into gold, make the whole world shout.
Life ain't sweet when your mind’s on fire,
Fake love all around, tryna take me higher,
But I see through the smoke, I ain't losin' my fight,
I’ma carve my own path, make my name in the light.
[Outro]
Yeah…
Mm-mm, yeah…
That is not my legacy… nah…
That is not my legacy… yeah...
