Lyrics
Description
(verse)
O Virgin pure, O spotless Queen,
God’s dwelling place most fair,
Within thy womb the Word took flesh,
The Lord of Heaven there.
Like Ark of old that held the Law,
Thy heart His Word enclosed;
The Bread of Life, the Priest Divine,
Within thy womb reposed.
(chorus)
Hail Mary, Ark of God Most High,
The Temple not by hands;
The Glory came to rest in thee,
Fulfilled by God’s commands.
All generations call thee blest,
Through whom salvation came;
O Ark of Light, O Gate of Heaven,
We praise thy holy name.
(verse)
As David danced before the Ark,
Saint John did leap with joy;
When thou didst bear Emmanuel,
The foe He would destroy.
The manna hid in golden shrine,
Prefigured Christ our Bread;
The budding rod of Aaron showed
The Priest our souls have fed.
(verse)
In cloud of Spirit shadowed o’er,
The Power did thee enfold;
As once on Sinai’s mount it came,
So in thy womb foretold.
The Law fulfilled, the Word made flesh,
The Covenant made new;
O Mary, Ark of endless grace,
Our hearts we give to you.
(chorus)
Hail Mary, Ark of God Most High,
The Temple not by hands;
The Glory came to rest in thee,
Fulfilled by God’s commands.
All generations call thee blest,
Through whom salvation came;
O Ark of Light, O Gate of Heaven,
We praise thy holy name.
(ending)
O Queen enthroned beside thy Son,
Pray for us, sinners all,
That we may keep God’s holy Law,
And heed His loving call.
