Lyrics
Description
[Verse 1]
On Mercer Street, neon teal on the glass,
You pull me closer as the traffic slides past.
Groovy bass beneath our steps, a low, warm tide,
Polaroid in my pocket, your laugh at my side.
[Pre-Chorus 1]
Warm piano folds, a soft, blue melancholy,
Each chord a quiet promise, small and holy.
We move—short breaths, small sparks in the air,
A steady pulse beneath our feet, we don't care.
[Chorus]
Lost in the groove
Lost in the groove
Heartbeat beneath our feet
Lost in the groove
[Verse 2]
Corner of 9th and Vine, the café still hums,
Your coat smells like winter, lipstick and drums.
Synth pads lift like steam from a midnight cup,
Memory in a yellow light—the room swallows up.
[Pre-Chorus 2]
Piano opens wider, shadowed notes that climb,
Melodies become the map we trace through time.
Night leans in, then softens toward the dawn,
Neon fades but this rhythm holds on.
[Chorus]
Lost in the groove
Lost in the groove
Heartbeat beneath our feet
Lost in the groove
[Bridge]
Close your eyes—glass plucks and velvet waves arrive,
A filter sweeps the skyline, colors come alive.
Let the bass take the corners, let the chords remain,
We breathe in the echo, exhale the pain.
[Chorus — Shortened]
Lost in the groove
Lost in the groove
[Outro]
Warm piano lingers as the city learns to glow,
Groovy bass recedes like tide beneath the flow.
A single chord, a softened light—we know
We were lost, and then found, in the groove.
[Producer Notes — brief and practical]
- Tempo: 122 BPM (for producer reference only; avoid singing tempo in vocal).
- Verse 1: intro with low-pass on pads, warm sub bass enters at bar 5; keep bass groove tight and swung slightly for pocket.
- Pre-Chorus 1: warm piano (round, 90–120ms plate reverb) swells on the third line; bring pads down slightly to let vocals sit.
- Chorus: hook “Lost in the groove” doubled (dry vocal + 15–25ms slap delay), add narrow-band saturation on bass; keep beat lush but uncluttered.
- Verse 2: add a subtle vinyl crackle and a filtered high-hat groove to increase intimacy.
- Pre-Chorus 2: vary piano voicing (shift to higher inversion), increase reverb tail and a soft tape-delay on second vocal pass to show progression.
- Bridge: introduce glassy plucks (high-pass filtered bell), airy pad swell with wide stereo chorus; automate low-pass open over 8 bars for rising tension.
- Bass drops: place a gentle sub drop under the first chorus and a fuller bass under the second chorus for lift.
- Vocal FX: tasteful plate reverb on main vocal, use a doubled, slightly detuned backing vocal under last chorus; occasional reverse reverb sweeps into line starts.
- Reverb/Delay feel: medium plate reverb for warmth, long modulated delays on select ad-libs; keep low-end dry to maintain groove clarity.
- Recommended synth textures: warm analog-style pad (Chorus + subtle detune), glass-pluck for bridge, soft FM bell for top layers.
- Mastering notes: preserve dynamic range for club warmth, aim for transparent low-end (20–120Hz) with a 2–4
