Description
🎶 "Big Green Egg Saturday"
[Intro]
| G | D | Em | C |
(Lead guitar lick — smoky blues riff, crowd cheers fade in)
Band Leader Cue: “Let’s fire it up!”
[Verse 1]
| G | D | Em | C |
Sun’s up early, sky’s Spartan blue,
Tents poppin’ up, yeah, you know the crew.
The lot’s alive, that charcoal hum,
Big Green Egg’s glowin’, tailgate’s begun.
| G | D | Em | C |
Cmac’s on prep, TJ’s got the flame,
BGE Team Green — everybody knows the name.
You can smell that smoke from across the field,
Tri-tips and tomahawks, perfectly sealed.
[Chorus]
| G | D | Em | C |
We’re cookin’ on the Big Green Egg, Spartan pride in the air tonight,
Sizzlin’ ribeyes, tri-tips tight, that smoke’s our northern light.
| G | D | Em | C |
Cmac’s got that magic touch, TJ’s grillin’ insane,
They’re the Team Green legends — you’ll never taste the same.
| C | D | G | (Hold) |
Big Green Egg Saturday, fire it up, we don’t play —
Go Green, Go White, all day,
At the Michigan State tailgate.
[Verse 2]
| G | D | Em | C |
Fans in jerseys, flags on high,
BGE domes like emeralds in the sky.
Thermometers dancin’, coals burn slow,
You can hear that sear when the juices flow.
| G | D | Em | C |
They’re flippin’ tomahawks, three inches thick,
That marbled perfection, done low and slick.
BGE Team Green, they came to show,
How Spartan smoke puts on a show!
[Bridge – breakdown style, halftime feel]
| Em | C | G | D |
From Munn Field grass to Spartan Stadium sound,
You’ll find the best grub anywhere around.
| Em | C | G | D |
No gas, no gimmicks, just smoke and flame,
Cmac and TJ bringin’ Big Green fame.
| Em | C | G | D |
And when that touchdown crowd starts to roar,
They flip those steaks and serve up more!
| Em | C | D | (Hold) |
Smoke in the air, that victory smell —
Spartan fire — we grillin’ well!
[Final Chorus – full band, crowd vocals]
| G | D | Em | C |
We’re cookin’ on the Big Green Egg, Spartan hearts on fire tonight,
Tomahawks blazin’, tri-tips tight, that smoke’s rollin’ just right.
| G | D | Em | C |
BGE Team Green, they lead the parade,
It’s a tailgate legend Michigan made!
| C | D | G | (Hold w/ crowd chant) |
Yeah, Big Green Egg Saturday,
Cmac and TJ grill the way,
Go Green, Go White — all day,
At the Michigan State tailgate!
