Lyrics
Description
[Verse 1]
Under balmy skylines, drum-sweat on our skin
We won't kowtow to yesterday’s thin grin
Giddy feet answer call of the market drums
Palm shadows flicker where the neon hums
[Pre‑Chorus 1]
Luxuriant rhythms swell, wash away the night's ignominy
Djembe heartbeat rising, salt on the breeze, feel the symmetry
[Chorus]
Absolve — let the beat set you free
Absolve — move with me, move with me
Absolve — let the beat set you free
In this Afro rave, come claim your liberty
[Verse 2]
Stalls spill color like a living, laughing farce
Neon palms wink, every street a living spark
Elated bodies fold into the percussion’s tide
We trade our small shame for the night’s wide stride
[Pre‑Chorus 2]
Luxuriant rhythms climb, now ignominy subsides
We defray the weight, the shame dissolves where the bass resides
Giddy collisions of hands, of smiles, the sound collides
[Chorus]
Absolve — let the beat set you free
Absolve — move with me, move with me
Absolve — let the beat set you free
In this Afro rave, come claim your liberty
[Bridge — Percussion Breakdown / Call & Response]
(Lead) Hear the cataclysm of the streets — thunder in the djembes
(Crowd) We answer!
(Lead) When the world shakes, when the skyline cracks like old drums
(Crowd) We answer!
(Lead) Will you kneel? Will you bow?
(Crowd) We won't kowtow!
(Lead) Say it now, let it echo under neon palms:
(Crowd) Absolve!
[Breakdown — Vocal Chant over Djembe]
Djembe — boom, boom, clap
Laughing market — snap, snap, clap
Neon farce and real hearts map
We rise, we rise — we won't look back
[Chorus — Variation]
Absolve — let the beat set you free (set you free)
Absolve — let this rhythm heal (let it heal)
Absolve — let the beat set you free
Balmy nights, luxuriant light, elated and real
[Outro]
The cataclysm calmed by drum and hand, the city breathes again
Balmy wind, the market sings, ignominy washed off like rain
Luxuriant, giddy, elated — we keep the fire alive
We defray the cost of sorrow with every drumbeat, every stride
Absolve — (let the beat set you free) — and keep on dancing till sunrise
